34 reasons why Crossroads.

1. Everyday in England and Wales 508 babies are aborted
2. Tragically most of the mothers felt they had no other choice
3. Many desperately wanted to keep their baby , but they had NO ONE to support them , stand with them , help them
4. Their healthy growing baby was denied the right to breathe our air and live the life God had planned for them.
5. The mother then often spirals downwards into depression, guilt and despondency – and no one knows why. The secret is buried deep within her. But she knows. She remembers. She wonders what her baby would be like…
6. One out of every three women in the UK has had at least one abortion. Many of them know you.
7. Millions of women carry this secret; many are being eaten up by it. But you have no idea. It’s secret. Hidden. But it’s real to her… and millions like her.

Crossroads Pregnancy Crisis Centre started responding to this need to support people caught up in an unplanned pregnancy and to recover from an abortion in 1994.Their first drop in advise centre was opened right next door to the busy Abortion clinic in Brixton, moving later to larger premises in Clapham Park
9. The team are all women volunteers, drawn from many local churches, help someone with a crisis pregnancy by:
10. They help a woman by looking with her at the facts, emotions and beliefs surrounding pregnancy
11. They listen to her and understand how she views her situation
12. They help her discover that  there are some non judgemental people who care for her
13. They help her express what she believes about pregnancy and abortion
14. By helping her examine the facts about pregnancy she gets an  understanding the possible long term effects abortion would have on her
15. They helping her consider all her options, including keeping the baby or adoption
16. They help  her to take the next step – telling her parents and partner, talking with her GP
17. They assuring her whatever her decision, she will find personal support at the centre.
18. Those needing help to recover from a past abortion , no matter how many years ago , are taken through THE JOURNEY ,a 10 Step recovery programme
19. Crossroads has served hundreds of women with God’s love. God’s ACCEPTING love, no matter what we do. For many it’s their first ever taste of Amazing grace.
20. Our young people are going through a sexual revolution and young girls are becoming sexually active while still at primary school
21. At secondary schools they are given demonstrations on how to put a condom on, they have free condoms thrown at them, school nurses are told to give out the morning after abortion pill to 12 / 13 / 14  year old girls without telling the parents
22. Sex disease is rampant as sexual partners are frequently changed  – STI’s have now reached epidemic proportions in Lambeth having doubled in the last 5 years with Chlamydia tragically resulting in  infertility if not caught early
23. Our children are growing up in a world that’s eating them alive and everyday 170 of them are have babies …
24. But it was not the teenagers who engineered the drugs which have infiltrated and distorted their culture
25. Nor initiated the voices that broke their mums and dads marriage covenants,
26. Nor abused them sexually when little girls and boys
27. Nor brought into the country the killer diseases that now ravage this generation of children and teenagers.
28. It is not teenagers who fuel the media machines and authorise the violent and immoral and sexually explicit things on TV, or in movies, videos and comics.
29. It is not teenagers who designed the school curriculum, which threw out any hint of divine origin, value or destiny to life, and turned biology into mere chemistry, history into fantasy and morality into poetry.
30. It is teenagers who have been let down by failed examples by their parents, teachers,the government, law, medicine and religion in the nation.
31. Our kids started out like a clean sheet of paper… but what gets written on them is down to us the older generations, and if there is no preservative in society , if society has gone bad , decayed , then bad things are going to be written on their lives

Crossroads is like a salt pot in South London and through the Crossroads schools team, the salt is starting to once again get out of the pots and have an effect on teenagers – hundreds of them, with lessons showing that sex works best in the security of a loving committed relationship, and its worth waiting for.
33. Crossroads is a group of pioneering Christians – taking back what the devil has stolen from us, the purity of our youth. Helping girls take the right decision, not the knife decision.

Crossroads is doing a lot – relationships seminars, personal counselling, schools lessons, youth clubs, literature, on line advice, post abortion counselling.

More could be done in Christ’s name… but the labourers are few.  Crossroads needs women volunteers to work with the part time Centre Director and a Schools Worker

• Receptionists to answer the phone and do admin
• Caring people to train as advisors
• Prayer partners ( men and women) to cover the front line workers
• Young people to join the schools team
• The management team of local Christians needs strengthening, especially people with financial and medical skills. And men.
• Crossroads needs churches to stand with this work , being done in Christ’s name , with prayer and regular financial support
• Crossroads needs lots of money – advertising alongside abortion clinics is expensive. All its services are offered free – free counselling, schools and youth club visits, pregnancy tests, testing for Chlamydia, booklets and leaflets on relationships, sex and pregnancy. All free. But all paid by someone

Crossroads is responding in Christ’s name and in Christ’s way to the need of the hour because we know that bad things happen when good people do nothing.

Please Do something. This need is not going to go away
